AI Chat Exporter is a Chrome extension made by GPT Shop Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 15766335). We are the data controller for the small amount of personal data described here. Contact: chris@gptshopltd.com.

The short version

Your chats never leave your computer. The extension reads the conversation on the page you have open and turns it into a file in your browser. We do not receive, store or see chat content, and we have no way to.

What the extension does on your device

• When you click Export, it reads the open Claude, Gemini or NotebookLM page and builds the file locally. Images in the chat are fetched by your browser so they can be included in the file.
• It saves your settings (formats, file name pattern and similar) and, if you have one, your licence key in Chrome's extension storage on your device.
• For a PDF, it opens a print view inside the extension and Chrome's own print dialog saves the file.
• Bulk export opens your chats in a browser tab, one at a time, to read them. Gemini cleanup deletes chats you choose, from your own account, using the Gemini page itself.

What is sent to us

Only if you use Pro: the extension sends your licence key and the extension version number to exporter.gptshopltd.com about once a day, so it can confirm the licence is active. Like any web server, ours briefly processes your IP address to answer the request. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, in the extension or on this website.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe through its Managed Payments service (“Sold through Link”), where Stripe is the merchant of record. Stripe collects your payment details, billing address and email address under its own privacy policy and Link privacy centre. We receive your email address, the plan you bought and its status, and we store these with your licence key so we can confirm it and help you if you lose it. We never see your card details.

Legal basis and retention

We process licence and purchase data to perform our contract with you, and keep accounting records for as long as UK law requires (currently six years). Licence records for cancelled subscriptions are kept for the same period, then deleted.

Permissions

The extension asks only for: activeTab and scripting (to read the chat in the tab where you click the icon), and storage (for settings). Access to claude.ai, gemini.google.com and NotebookLM for bulk export is optional and requested only when you use that feature, for that site only.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email chris@gptshopltd.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how data is handled we will update this page and the date above. We will never start sending chat content anywhere.
